Terry Collins stepped down as the Manager of the New York Mets,
saying “it has been a blast, but it is time.” It is likely Terry
will remain with the organization somewhere in the front office. During Collins
7 year tenure, the Mets made it to Game 5 of the World
Series in 2015, made it to the postseason in back to back seasons for only the
second time in franchise history, Johan Santana pitched the first no-hitter in
team history, Jose Reyes became the first Met to win a Batting Title, R.A.
Dickey won 20 games, Matt Harvey started the All-Star Game at Citi Field in
2013, and finally the Captain David Wright became the all-time hits leader in
franchise history. Collins has the second most wins in club history.
General Manager Sandy Alderson thanked Collins
for his services and he said the search for the new Manager of the Mets will
begin in earnest.
