June 29  The Mets honored the 50th anniversary of the 1969 World Championship team in a pregame ceremony.

June 28 Pete Alonso will participate in this year’s Home Run Derby in Cleveland, Ohio.  

June 27  The City of New York and the Mets announced that 126th Street is being renamed Tom Seaver Way and Citi Field address is now 41 Seaver Way. Also the Mets announced plans for a Tom Seaver statue, that will be next to the Home Run Apple in front of Citi Field. All of this is in honor of The Franchise, Tom Seaver. Seaver is the best pitcher in franchise history.

June 26 Chris Mazza was called up from Syracuse and Walker Lockett was sent down to Syracuse.

Manager Mickey Callaway and Jason Vargas were fined by the Mets $10,000 each for the incident with Newsday beat reporter Tim Healey after the game on Sunday. Callaway repeatedly cursed him out and Vargas threatened Healey physically. The next day Callaway apologized but Vargas didn’t.

June 23  Pete Alonso broke Darryl Strawberry’s club rookie home run record by hitting 27 home runs.

June 22  Pete Alonso tied a Mets rookie record, held by Darryl Strawberry, by hitting 26 home runs. He also broke the National League rookie record. The Major League Baseball rookie home run rookie record is 33 held by Mark Mark McGwire.

Phil Regan will remain the Pitching Coach for the rest of the season.

June 20  The Mets fired Pitching Coach Dave Eiland after 1 ½ years on the job. They also dismissed Bullpen Coach Chuck Hernandez and named Jeremy Accardo for the newly created position Pitching Strategist. Phil Regan was named as the interim Pitching Coach. Also Ricky Bones returned as the bullpen Pitching Coach.  Regan, 82, has been in the Mets organization at some capacity for 13 years, as well as a Pitching Coach and a manager for several other organizations. The Mets starters have a 4.47 ERA who is 7th, and their bullpen ERA is 5.38 who is 14th. Pitching supposedly is the Mets strength, not this year.

June 3  Ron Darling will return to SNY broadcast booth on Tuesday June 4 to call Mets games again. Darling has been out since middle of April to undergo surgery for thyroid cancer. The cancer stabilized enough for him to return to work.

The Mets selected Brett Baty, a third baseman from Travis High School in Texas. Baty was selected in the 12th round in the Major League Baseball amateur draft. Baty was 17th overall in the MLB’S pipeline and he is a power hitter.

May 31  Seth Lugo was activated from the Injured List and Daniel Zamora was demoted to Syracuse.

May 29  Pete Alonso broke the Mets record of most home runs by a rookie in a month with 10. Darryl Strawberry held the previous record.

May 21  Pete Alonso broke the Mets rookie record by hitting the most home runs, 16, before the All-Star Game.

May 20  General Manager Brodie Van Wagenen announced that Yoenis Cespedes took a “violent fall” that he suffered multiple fractures in his right ankle. The accident happened at his ranch in Florida while he was rehabbing his both heels after double surgeries.  It is unclear whether the accident is the result of a baseball related activity or a non baseball related activity.

Brodie Van Wagenen also announced that Manager Mickey Callaway’s job is safe for the foreseeable future.

Seth Lugo was placed on the Injured List and Hector Santiago was called up from Syracuse.

May 18  Steven Matz was activated from the Injured List and Paul Sewald was sent to Syracuse.

April 25  Major League Baseball suspended Jacob Rhame for throwing at Phillies Rhys Hoskins during Tuesday game. The pitch was behind Hoskins’s head, but there was no warning. It is ridiculous.

April 23  Zack Wheeler is the first pitcher in franchise history to have 2 extra base hits while striking out 11 batters in a game.

Zack Wheeler is the first player in Major League Baseball history to throw a pitch lover 100 mph and hit a home run with an exit velocity of over 100 mph.

April 22  Legendary Met Ed Kranepool will receive a kidney transplant on May 7. Ed was looking for a donor for over 2 years.

Todd Frazier was activated from the Injured List and Justin Wilson was put on the Injured List.

April 20  Chris Flexen was called up from Syracuse, then after the game he was sent down to Syracuse.

April 19  Jacob deGrom was put on the Injured List because of elbow soreness. The Mets are optimistic that it is nothing serious but they are sending him for a MRI Monday. A roster move will be made Saturday.

April 17  Jacob Rhame was called up from Syracuse and Drew Gagnon was demoted to Syracuse.

Ron Darling’s surgery was successful.

April 15 Drew Gagnon was called up from Syracuse and Luis Guillorme was sent down to Syracuse.

April 13 Legendary Met and SNY broadcaster Ron Darling announced he is taking a medical leave of absence. Darling told the viewers that he hasn’t been feeling too well lately and the doctors found a huge mass in his chest. If everything goes accordingly Ron will return next month.

The Mets signed catcher Rene Rivera to a minor league contract.

March 26  The Mets and Jacob deGrom have agreed on a 5 year contract extension worth $137.5 million dollars, pending a physical. deGrom set Opening Day as the deadline to get a deal. Last season Jacob was 10-9 with a spectacular 1.70 ERA that resulted him winning the Cy Young Award.
