September 29  P. Johan Santana won the Pitcher of the Month for September.  He went 4-0 with a 1.83 ERA.

September 28  For the second time in 2 years, the Mets failed to make the playoffs on the final day of the season.  Also the Mets lost in the Shea Stadium finale.  Citi Field will open on April 13, 2009.

September 24  Mets activated P. John Maine from the disabled list. 

September 23  SS Jose Reyes became the second Met to collect 200 hits in a season. 

September 21  1b Carlos Delgado collected his 2000th hit.

September 18  Mets released P. Al Reyes.

IF Damion Easley is probably out for the remainder of the season with a strained quad. 

September 16  OF Fernando Tatis is out for the remainder of the season with a separated shoulder.

September 13  Mets activated C Ramon Castro from the disabled list. 

September 10  SS Jose Reyes became the Mets all-time leader in stolen bases when he swiped number 282 in his career, surpassing Mookie Wilson. 

September 8  P. Billy Wagner will have Tommy John surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left elbow.  He will be out for the remainder of this year and the majority of the 2009 season. 

August 31  Mets called up P's Jonathan Niese, Robert Parnell, Ricardo Rincon, Brandon Knight, Carlos Muniz, and Al Reyes, C Gustavo Molina, Inf's Argenis Reyes and Ramon Martinez from New Orleans.  Mets also activated OF Marlon Anderson from the disabled list. 

August 27  Mets called up C Robinson Cancel and disabled C Ramon Castro.  

Mets also called up P.  Nelson Figueroa and sent down 2b Argenis Reyes to New Orleans.

   For the first time since Bret Saberhagen did it 13 years ago, P. Mike Pelfrey pitched back to back complete game victories.

August 20  Mets signed P. Al Reyes to a minor leagues contract.  Reyes had 26 saves with the Rays last season.

August 17  Mets acquired P. Luis Ayala from the Nationals for SS Anderson Hernandez.  Mets hope Ayala will give the bullpen a boost, but he is only 1-8 with an over 6.00 ERA so far this season. 

August 13  Mets activated P. John Maine from the Disabled List and sent down P. Carlos Muniz to New Orleans. 

August 10  Mets called up P. Brian Stokes from New Orleans and sent down P. Ruddy Lugo to New Orleans.

3b David Wright was named to the All-Star Team replacing the Cubs' Alfonso Soriano.

July 6  P. Billy Wagner is the only Met to be selected to this year's All-Star Game.  It is his 6th time going. 

July 3  Mets called up Inf. Argenis Reyes from New Orleans and disabled 2b Luis Castillo.

Mets called up OF Chris Aguilla from New Orleans and demoted P. Carlos Muniz to New Orleans. 

June 30  Mets called up P. Tony Armas Jr. and designated 1b Andy Phillips for assignment.  

June 29  Mets activated OF Ryan Church from the DL and disabled OF Trot Nixon. 

June 27  1B Carlos Delgado set a Met all time record by driving in 9 runs.  The previous record was 8 by Dave Kingman.

Jerry Manuel and Carlos Beltran were fined by MLB for their actions during Tuesday's game. 

June 25  Mets claimed 1b Andy Phillips off waivers from the Reds and designated C Robinson Cancel for assignment. 

Mets brought up P. Carlos Muniz from New Orleans and sent down P. Claudio Vargas to New Orleans. 

June 17  Mets fired Manager Willie Randolph, Pitching Coach Rick Peterson, and First Base Coach/Catching Instructor Tom Nieto.  Mets named Bench Coach Jerry Manuel as the Interim Manager.  Manuel will be the Manager for the rest of the season.   Their replacements are Ken Oberkfell, Dan Werthen, and Luis Aguayo.  The firings came at 3:14 EST am, 12:14 PCT am in a hotel room after a Mets win versus the Angels  Very strange timing why not do it over the weekend or three weeks ago and Mets did it when the press went to bed.  They just issued a press release.  Willie Randolph's Mets record is 302-253 and that is the second best winning percentage in Mets history . Willie's demise began last season with the historic September collapse and with this season's sub .500 record, it was time to go. 

Jerry Manuel managed the White Sox and was the A.L. Manager of the Year in 2000.

June 13  Mets acquired OF Trot Nixon from the Diamondbacks for cash considerations and a player to be named later.      

Mets disabled OF Moises Alou again and brought up C Robinson Cancel from New Orleans.
