January 31  Mets avoided arbitration with Angel Pagan by signing him to an one year $3.5 million dollars contract. 
 
January 29  Mets and Citi Field will host the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in 2013.
 
Mets avoided arbitration with pitcher R A Dickey by signing him to a two year contract worth $8 million dollars with a club option for a third year. 
 
January 28  Owner Fred Wilpon announced he is exploring of selling 20-25% part of the franchise.  This is the result of the lawsuit against Bernie Madoff.  Wilpon wants the Mets to win and selling part of the team might be good. 
 
January 22  Mets signed pitchers Tim Byrdak and Blaine Boyer to minor leagues contracts with an invitation to Spring Training. 
 
January 18  Mets avoided arbitration with pitcher Mike Pelfrey by signing him to an one year $3.9 million dollars contract.
Mets signed pitcher Chris Young to an one year contract, pending a physical.  Young missed most of last season due to an arm injury. 
 
January 16  Mets signed catcher Raul Chavez to get minor leagues contract with an invitation to Spring Training.  Mets also are reportedly close to signing outfielder Willie Harris to a minor leagues contract with an invitation to Spring Training. 
 
January 12  Mets signed pitcher Taylor Tankersley to a minor leagues contract with an invitation to Spring Training.  
 
January 4  Mets signed pitchers Chris Capuano and Taylor Buchholz to an one year contract.  Both are coming off from Tommy John surgery last season. 
 
December 28  Mets acquired second baseman Chin-Lin Hu from the Dodgers for a minor leagues pitcher.  Hu is very good defensively. 
 
December 14  Mets named the coaching staff for 2011; Ken Oberkfell will be the Bench Coach, Dan Warthen as the Pitching Coach, Dave Hudgens as the Hitting Coach, Mookie Wilson as the First Base Coach, Chip Hale as the Third Base Coach, and Jon DeBus as the Bullpen Coach. 
 
December 7  Mets signed catcher Ronny Paulino to an one year contract worth $1.3 million dollars.  Paulino, 29, hit .259 with 4 HR and a .311 OBP in 91 games for the Pirates last season, though he hit .358 against left-handed pitching.  However, he was suspended 50 games for using performance-enhancing drugs, nine of which he will serve at the start of next season.
 
Mets also signed pitcher DJ Carrasco to a two year contract worth $2.5 million dollars.  Carrasco split the 2010 season between the Pirates and D-Backs, going a combined 3-2 with a 3.68 ERA in 63 relief appearances.
 
November 23  Mets hired Terry Collins as the club's 20th manager.  Collins is a disciplinarian, teacher, fiery, and energetic.  All of what the Mets need.  Last season Collins served as the Mets minor leagues coordinator.  Terry managed the Astros and Angels in the 1990's and finished no worse than second place and has an above .500 overall record.  Collins got a two year contract with a club's option for a third. 
 
Mets offered arbitration to pitcher Pedro Feliciano. 
 
November 15  Sandy Alderson's father died in a pedestrian accident in Florida, he was 87.
 
Mets fired longtime Clubhouse Manager Charlie Samuels because of gambling allegations.  Reportedly he bet on baseball and has some mafia connections. 
 
November 8  Mets hired Paul DePodesta as Vice President of player development and amateur scouting.  Depodesta was the GM of the Dodgers from 2007-10.
Mets released pitcher Hisnorari Takahashi.
 
November 4  Mets picked up the option on Jose Reyes's contract for 2011.
Mets announced they have suspended indefinitely Clubhouse Manager Charlie Samuels for personal reasons.  Samuels have been the Clubhouse Manager for 27 years. 
 
November 2  Mets named J.P. Ricciardi as a special assistant to the new GM Sandy Alderson.  Mets also announced that coach Razor Shines will not be retained. 
 
October 29  Mets named Sandy Alderson as their 12th General Manager.  Alderson brings instant credibility and direction to the franchise.  In the past Alderson was the General Manager of the Athletics when they won three consecutive pennants from 1987-89 and won a championship in 1988.  He was the General Manager of the padres and also worked in the Major League Baseball offices.  Alderson wants a manager to be a leader, intellectual, a great representation of the franchise, and fiery.  Sandy, 62, signed a four year contract with a club option for a fifth. 
 
October 19  Mets and pitcher Francisco Rodriguez settled their dispute over his remaining 2010 contract.  Rodriguez will not ask the Mets to pay the $3.1 million dollars owe to him, in return, the Mets will
not seek to non guaranteed the remaining of his contract and to remove Rodriguez from the unqualified list.  This is the result of a fight between Rodriguez and his daughter mother's father at Citi Field last August. 
 
October 4  Mets fired both General Manager Omar Minaya and Manager Jerry Manuel after two very disappointing seasons.  Mets are hoping to hire a new General Manager before the World Series and a new Manager thereafter.
