February 2 The Mets avoided arbitration with first baseman
Lucas Duda by signing him to an one year $4.2 million
dollars contract.
January 29 The Mets and pitcher Jenrry
Mejia agreed on a $2.595 one year
contract, avoiding arbitration.
January 17 The Mets signed second baseman Daniel Murphy,
pitchers Dillon Gee and Jenrry Mejia to one year
contracts, avoiding arbitration.
January 7 The Mets avoided arbitration with pitcher Bobby
Parnell by signing him to a $3.7 million dollars contract.
January 6 Once again Mike Piazza didn’t get elected to
be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Mike received 69.9% of the votes,
75% is required. Pedro Martinez, who pitched for the Mets during his career,
was elected. Pedro received 91.1% of the votes. Pedro pitched for the Mets from
2005-07.
Mets signed pitcher Buddy Carlyle to a minor league contract
with an invitation to Spring Training.
December 19 The Mets traded
Gonzalez Germen to the Yankees for cash considerations.
December 11, The Mets signed John Mayberry Jr. to an one year
contract worth $1.45 million dollars.
Mayberry played with the Phillies and Blue Jays last season hitting just
.212.
November 21 The Mets hired Pat
Roessler as the Assistant Hitting Coach.
November 18 The Mets announced their latest changes to
the Citi Field outfield wall on Tuesday. The changes affected are located in
center to right field ranging from three to 11 feet, the team said. The
right-center field fence will move from 390 feet to 380 feet, while the area
near the bullpen will move from 375 to 370 feet.
November 11 Pitcher Jacob deGrom was named the National League Rookie of the Year. deGrom got 26 out of 31 votes from
the Baseball Writers of America. Travis d’Arnaud
and Jeurys Familia finished
sixth and seventh respectfully in the voting.
The Mets signed outfielder Micheal Cuddyer to a 2 year contract worth $21 million dollars. Cuddyer who is 35, won the batting title with the Rockies
in 2013 when he hit .331. Last season in an injury
plaque year, he hit .332 with 11 hrs in only 45
games. Michael also can play first base.
November 4 Centerfielder Juan Lagares won his first Gold Glove , a well
deserved honor.
Pitcher Jacob deGrom is among 3
finalists for the BBWA National League Rookie of the Year.
Jacob deGrom won the Player’s
Choice N.L. Rookie Pitcher of the Year.
November 1 Major League
Baseball selected first baseman Lucas Duda to be on
their National Team when they play against Japan in mid
November.
Athletics claimed outfielder Andrew Brown off waivers.
Brewers claimed catcher Juan Centeno off waivers.
October 24 The Mets announced
the hiring of Kevin Long as their hitting coach. Long spent the last 7 seasons
serving as the Yankees hitting coach. Hopefully Long
can get the Mets offense to produce.
Centerfielder Juan Lagares is among 3
finalists for the Gold Glove.
Pitcher Jacob deGrom was named the
Sporting News Rookie Pitcher of the Year.
October 15 The Mets announced
they are moving in the fences from right and right center field. It is the
second time in 3 years they moved in the fences.
October 2 The Mets dismissed hitting coaches Lamar Johnson
and Luis Natara. The team named Johnson as the
hitting coach in May replacing Dave Hudgens. Possible
replacements include former Mets Bobby Abreu and Edgardo Alfonzo.
Catcher Travis d’Arnaud
underwent successful surgery on his elbow and should be ready by Spring
Training.
Pitcher Jacob deGrom was named the
N.L. Rookie Pitcher of the Month for September.
