February 6  Pitchers and catchers are due to report by February 15.

Khalil Lee was designated for assignment after Lee was accused of domestic violence last week.

Pitching prospect Matthew Allan suffered another elbow injury and is out all of the 2023 season.

Keith Raab and Pat McCarthy are joining Howie Rose in the WCBS 880 Radio Booth.

January 27  Jeff McNeil agrees to a four year contract extension worth $50 million dollars, plus a club option. Jeff won the National League Batting Title in 2022. The deal is pending a physical.

January 18  Broadcasters Gary Cohen and Howie Rose, players Howard Johnson and Al Leiter are the 4 who have been elected into the Mets Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place on June 3rd. 

Tommy Pham signed an one year $6 million dollars contract. Pham hit .231 last season.

Tomas Nido signed a two-year contract worth $2.3 million dollars, covering his remaining arbitration years.

An original Met Frank Thomas passed away, he was 93.

January 13  The Mets and Pete Alonso agreed on an one year contract worth $14.5 million dollars, avoiding arbitration.

Drew  Smith avoided arbitration by signing an one year contract worth $1.3 million dollars.

January 10  Carlos Correa is not a New York Met. After failing his physical and a 3 week of negotiations, the Mets decided to pull out  fearing his ankle might become a bigger issue.

January 9  Tim Lacastro was signed to a minor league contract with an invite to Spring Training.

January 4  According to a report T.J. MacFarland agreed to a minor league contract .

Reportedly Eric Hinske was hired as the Assistant Hitting coach.

The Mets and Carlos Correa are still talking .Hopefully a resolution is in sights.

December 24  According to a report, Carlos Correa and the Mets are said to be working out things after the club had some concerns about Correa’s physical. The concern is over Carlos’s lower right leg that was surgically repaired in 2014.. The injury hasn’t prevented him from playing.

December 22  James McCann was traded to the Orioles for a player to be named later.

Joey Lucchesi avoided arbitration by signing an one year, $ 1.15 million dollars contract.

Danny Medick was signed to an one year $1.50 million dollar contract.

Yoan Lopez was released

December 21  Carlos Correa is a New York Met. Pending a physical Correa agreed to a twelve year $315 million dollars contract. Last week Carlos signed a contract with the Giants, but the Giants questioned something in his physical and voided the contract. Steve Cohen swooped in and got the player. Correa is a five tool player and has performed great in the playoffs. Carlos won the World Series with the Astros in 2017.

December 20  Adam Ottavino is returning to Queens. Ottavino signed a two year contract worth $14.5 million dollars. Adam could opt out after the 2023 season. He had a 2.06 ERA with a 0.97 WHIP last season.

December 15  Omar Narvaez was signed to an one year contract, plus a player option. The total amount is $15 millions. Narvaez was an All-Star in 2021.

December 10  According to reports Japanese star pitcher Kodai Senga was signed to a five year $75 million dollars contract. The deal also includes a full no trade clause. In Japan Senga was a three timed All-Star Game selection arid five timed Japan Series Champion.

December 8  Brandon Nimmo is returning to the Mets. Nimmo signed an 8 year contract worth $162 million dollars. Nimmo has been one of the game’s most productive players since 2018. The deal also includes a full no trade clause.

In addition David Robertson was signed to an one year contract worth $10 millions. Robertson saved 20 games for the Cubs and Phillies last season.

December 7  Jose Quintana agreed to a two-year contract worth $26 million dollars. Quintana started last season with the Pirates then traded to the Cardinals had his best season with a 2.93 ERA.

Brooks Raley was acquired from the Rays for a minor leaguer. Raley had his best season with a 2.68 ERA.

Edwin Diaz was named the National League Relief Pitcher of the year.

December 5  Justin Verlander is coming to Queens. Reportedly he agreed to a two-year contract worth $86 million dollars contact, plus a vesting option for a third year. Verlander, 40, won the Cy Young award last season and has won this award multiple times. Justin is also a two time World Series champion.

December 2  Jacob deGrom is no longer a New York Met. deGrom signed a 5-year $185 million dollar contract with the Rangers.

November 30  The team announced a few changes on the coaching staff . Eric Chavez moved to Bench Coach, Jeremy Barnes moved to Hitting coach, and Glenn Sherlock is the new catching instruction. Additionally Bullpen Coach Eric Bjornson  will not be returning.

November 18  Elieser Hernandez and Jeff Brigham were acquired from the Marlins for minor leaguer Franklin Sanchez.  This trade adds to the pitching depth.

William Woods was claimed from the Braves.

November 15  Manager Buck Showalter won the Manager of the Year award. It is the first time in franchise history that a Mets manager has ever won this award. It is the fourth time in Showalter’s career that he won the award, Diamondbacks, Rangers , Orioles and now the Mets. Buck managed the team to 101 victories and a postseason berth..

Stephen Ridings was claimed from the Yankees.

According to a source, Jeff Albert was named as the Director of Hitting for the entire organization.

November 10  Jeff McNeil has won the Silver Slugger Award for second basemen.

 Carlos Carrasco’s $14 millions option was picked up .

The Mets extended qualifying offers to Jacob deGrom, Chris Bassitt, and Brandon Nimmo.

November 7  Manager Buck Showalter is a finalist for the Manager of the Year.

November 6  A day after the World Series has ended, the Mets begin the off-season by resigning closer Edwin Diaz to a historic 5 year $102 million dollars contract. Diaz is now the highest paid reliever in Major League Baseball history. Diaz had a historic season, striking out 17.1 batters per 9 innings while saving 30+ games. The deal has a player option after 2025, a team option for 2028, and a full no trade clause.

Daniel Vogelbach’s option was picked up.

Francisco Lindor won the prestigious Marvin Miller Players Choice Award.

November  4  Starling Marte underwent surgery on his core muscle and should be ready for Spring Training. This surgery usually takes 8 weeks to recover.

 October 27  Buck Showalter was named the Sporting News Manager of the Year.

 October 19  Francisco Alvarez ankle surgery to repair some loose bodies. He should be ready for Spring Training.
