1March 27  Mets claimed Chris Latham from the Blue Jays and Andy Tracy from the Expos.

March 26  Mets traded utility man Lou Collier to the Expos for 2 minor leaguers.

March 13  Mets released Mark Sweeney and Danny Peoples.

March 12  Al Leiter skipped his scheduled start today because of a strained hip flexor muscle.

March 11  Roberto Alomar hit his 1st home run as a Met in a 5-0 win.

March 10  Jeff D'Amico left today's game with a strained tendon in his right wrist and so far is day-to-day.

March 5  Edgardo Alfonzo hit the Mets' 1st home run of the Spring.  Jeff D'Amico, Bruce Chen, Satoru Komiyama and David Weathers 1-hit the Royals in a 4-0 win.

March 2  Mets signed 4 players to contracts; CF Jay Payton will get $362,500, OF Gary Matthews will get $235,000, 1b Jorge Toca will get $210,000 if he makes the team, and RP Kane Davis will get $237,000.

Mo Vaughn got his 1st hit as a Met, going 1-2 with a walk in a 4-2 Met win.

February 28  Mets signed 3 players to contracts; Inf Lou Collier will get $250,000, OF Timo Perez will get $220,500, and C Jason Phillips will get $200,000.

February 21  Mets acquired P. Kane Davis from the Rockies for P. Corey Brittan.  Davis was 2-4 with a 4.35 ERA in 57 appearances with the Rockies, he will add depth to the bullpen.  Brittan was 4-2 with a 1.98 ERA and 4 saves in Norfolk.
