TRAINING NEWS
April 2 The Mets made
it official with Juan Lagares.
April 1 Reports are the Mets
are close to sign outfielder Juan Lagares to four
year contract worth $23 million dollars.
March 30 The Mets acquired pitcher Jerry Blevins from the
Nationals for Matt den Dekker. They also acquired pitcher Alex Torres from the
Padres for 2 minor leaguers.
March 23 Manager Terry Collins
named Bartolo Colon as the Opening Day pitcher. He will be the oldest Opening Day
pitcher in Mets history.
March 20 Pitcher Zack Wheeler
decided to undergo Tommy John surgery and will miss the 2015 season.
March 19 Second baseman Daniel
Murphy strained his hamstring in today’s game and could miss at least a
week.
March 16 Pitcher Zack Wheeler
has a full tear of the UCL in his pitching elbow and will likely require Tommy
John surgery. Wheeler could miss the entire 2015 season. It is a significant
blow.
March 15 Pitcher Josh Edgin decided to have Tommy John surgery and will be out
for the season.
March 13 Pitcher Zack Wheeler
will miss a start due to elbow tenderness and a blister.
March 12 Pitcher Josh Edgin has a stretched ligament in his pitching elbow and
may require surgery.
March 6 In his first appearance since underwent Tommy
John surgery Matt Harvey threw 2 perfect innings. Harvey reached 99 on the radar gun.
Second baseman Daniel Murphy has a contusion on his hand after
being hit by a pitch.
March 5 First baseman Lucas Duda is expected back next week after injuring his rib cage
at the start of Spring Training.
February 18 Manager Terry Collins
will miss the start of Spring Training due to the death of his father, Loren.
Pitcher Bobby Parnell will start the season on the Disabled
List. Bobby is still recovering from Tommy John surgery.
February 10 The Mets equipment truck left Citi Field heading
south to Port St. Lucie Florida for Spring Training. Pitchers and catchers
report February 19 and the first full squad workout is on February 26.
