March 20 Former New Jersey Governor Chris
Christie joined the Mets as a member of the Board of Directors, Owner Steve
Cohen announced.
March 18 Carlos Carrasco suffered a
hamstring tear and he will be out anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks.
MARCH 9 Jose Martinez has a torn Menisus
and he will be out 4 months.
March 6 Manager Luis Rojas named Jacob
deGrom as the Opening Day Pitcher.
February 19 Taijuan Walker was signed to a
two year $20 million dollars contract, with an option for a third year worth
$10 millions. Walker had a 2.70 ERA in 11 starts with
the Mariners and Blue Jays last season.
February 17 The Mets fired Hitting Coordinator Ryan Ellis on
January 22 after 3 women accused him of sexual harassment on the job in 2018.
This is the third such incident for the Mets since January.
Tim Tebow
announced his retirement from baseball.
February 15 Outfielder Kevin Pillar was signed
to an one year contract worth $6 millions. The deal
can be two year $10 millions if incentives are met.
Pillar batted .288 with 6 hrs last season with the Rays and the Rockies.
