March 27  Darrin Ruf was released and Tim Locastro makes the team.

March 25  Brett Baty and Mark Vientos will begin the season in the minor leagues.

March 24  Max Scherzer will start on Opening Day.

March 22  Highly touted prospect Francisco Alvarez was demoted to the minor leagues.

March 18  Brandon Nimmo has low grade sprains to the knee and ankle and is week to week, according to General Manager Billy Eppler.

March 17  Brandon Nimmo left the game tonight with an apparent ankle injury. He will undergo imaging tomorrow.

March 16  Edwin Diaz underwent successful knee surgery after he experienced a complete tear of the patellar tendon. The incident happened during an end of game celebration in Puerto Rico’s win at the World Baseball Classic. Typically the recovery time is 6 to 8 months so Diaz will be out for the entire season. This is a major blow because Edwin saved 32 games,had an 1.31 ERA, struck out 118 in just 62 innings, and his song “Narco” and the trumpets.

March 15  Jose Quintana will undergo bone graft surgery on his fifth rib and will be out until July.

March 13  The Mets are considering shutting down Jose Quintana for three months because of a fractured rib, according to a report.

Bryce Montes de Oca will be out a few weeks because of a stress reaction to the elbow.

 March 6  Jose Quintana has a small stress fracture on his fifth rib. Quintana will go to New York to undergo further tests.

David Peterson is day to day with a bruised foot.

March 5  Kodai Senga made his Mets debut, striking out 2.

March 4  Justin Verlander made his Mets debut, striking out 3.

February 21 Sandy Alderson stepped down as Team President, he is now a consultant. Owner Steve Cohen is the acting Team President until a replacement is found.

February 16  Baseball lost a broadcasting legend today, Tim McCarver passed away, he was 81. During his broadcasting career, he spent 16 years calling Mets games and teaching me and the fans the game of baseball. Tim's knowledge of the game and his humor are what I will remember him the most.

February 14  Keith Hernandez signed a new 3 year contract to remain in the SNY Booth alongside with Gary Cohen and Ron Darling. This season will be their 18th consecutive years broadcasting games together surpassing Ralph Kiner, Lindsey Nelson, and Bob Murphy’s string of 17 consecutive years.
